Modern technology is being integrated into the restructuring of the country’s sports framework from the union to national level in an effort to free the younger generation from excessive device addiction and ensure physical and mental well-being.

The information was disclosed by State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque at a seminar held on Friday evening, May 22, at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) Engineers Recreation Center (ERC) in the capital. The seminar titled “Healthy Aging” and the prize-giving ceremony of the Sports Tournament-2026 were organized marking the 78th founding anniversary of the IEB, with participation from leading engineers of the country.

The State Minister said a continuous talent identification system is being developed through digital tracking and database creation of talented athletes from the grassroots level. He added that from the upcoming full-fledged sports season starting in September, a total of 10 sports, including volleyball and table tennis, will be made mandatory, while technology-based advanced training opportunities at divisional and central BKSP centers will be expanded.

Calling on engineers to contribute to the development of modern playgrounds and walkways in urban development and smart city planning, he said the government would provide all kinds of technical support if formal proposals are submitted for the digital design and modernization of sports infrastructure.

The keynote paper at the seminar was presented by Sh. M. Monjurul Islam Chowdhury. He highlighted the importance of maintaining physical and mental balance, proper nutrition, and regular exercise with advancing age.
