At Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) in Gazipur, 15 leaders, including the newly appointed president, have resigned in protest after the announcement of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (BNP Student Wing) committee. The dissenting leaders claim that the committee includes married individuals, non-students, members of the ruling student wing (Chhatra League), and infiltrators from the Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Earlier, the central committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal had approved a 28-member DUET unit committee, appointing Md. Ashraful Haque as president, Md. Rukun Ali as senior vice president, Md. Jamirul Islam (Jamil) as general secretary, and Akhter Hossain Sikder as joint general secretary. The approval was granted by central committee president Md. Rakibul Islam Rakib and general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir on Saturday, March 1. The central leadership also instructed the newly announced committee to form a full-fledged committee within 30 days.

However, following the committee’s announcement, 15 leaders, including the president, several vice presidents, the senior joint secretary, and the organizational secretary, resigned the same night.

In their resignation letter addressed to the central president and general secretary, the leaders stated, "The newly formed DUET committee serves the interests of Shibir. With the inclusion of infiltrators, it is impossible for DUET student leaders and activists to carry forward Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's politics in unity." They further claimed that despite providing evidence of Shibir's involvement, the central leadership ignored their concerns. The resignation letter also pointed out that the demand for a democratically elected committee through voting was not met.

The resigned leaders have urged the central committee to investigate their allegations.

Confirming the mass resignation of 15 leaders, newly appointed DUET Chhatra Dal president Md. Ashraful Haque acknowledged the internal discord within the organization.
