Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Faiz Ahamad Taiyeb Aims for 'Meaningful Change' in ICT and Telecom

Technologist and engineer Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb has been appointed as the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the interim government, assuming responsibilities at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology from March 5. Previously serving as a policy advisor within the same ministry, he has now taken on a broader role with a commitment to driving "meaningful change" in the sector with utmost integrity.
On Friday, Taiyeb shared a post on his social media, pledging to fulfill his duties with "utmost honesty and dedication" while seeking public support and prayers. Within just two hours, his post garnered over 4,500 reactions, as Facebook users extended their best wishes, admiration, and encouragement.
Following his appointment, the executive members of the Bangladesh ICT Journalists Forum (BIJF) paid a courtesy visit to his office at the ICT Tower in Agargaon on Thursday (March 6), presenting him with floral greetings. The delegation was led by BIJF President Hitler A Halim and General Secretary Sabbir Hasan.
Reflecting on his new role, Taiyeb expressed his deep sense of responsibility in an emotional social media post, stating, "I have been writing for so many years, yet my hands never trembled. But after receiving this responsibility, my hands trembled for the first time. Since the gazette was published, I have been wondering how I will carry out this immense duty. Will I be able to fulfill the trust placed in me by the people of Bangladesh, my former boss Nahid Islam, and the Honorable Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus? I have never before felt the weight and depth of such a national responsibility in this way."
Sharing a personal anecdote, he recounted a message from a long-lost school friend, Adil, who wrote, "Congratulations. I hope you can do something great for our country. Remember, not everyone gets this kind of opportunity. Take care, my friend. Let us build our country as we would for our children."
Taiyeb admitted that he hesitated before replying, overcome with emotion. Eventually, he responded, "Pray that I can fulfill this responsibility with the highest integrity."
Over the past few days, he has received thousands of messages, particularly from the youth of Bangladesh, and expressed his gratitude for their overwhelming support. He prayed, "May Allah grant me the ability to repay this love to the fullest."
Vowing to bring about significant transformations in the telecommunications and ICT landscape of Bangladesh, he stated, "I will work to ensure 'meaningful change' in the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and ICT. My approach will focus on formulating new policies and revising existing ones as needed. My goal is to make my initiatives visible within a week."
Taiyeb also acknowledged the words of encouragement from the Honorable Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who reminded him of the great responsibility he now carries. Additionally, Senior Adviser M. Fawzul Kabir Khan congratulated him and advised, "Strive to uphold our honor and make us proud."
With unwavering determination, Taiyeb concluded, "I have made a promise to myself—I must succeed. We must bring forth the fruits of our youth’s sacrifices."
