The Military Engineer Services (MES) has praised Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC for its manufacturing scale, technological capabilities and research and development activities, while emphasising the importance of giving preference to products manufactured in Bangladesh.

A high-level MES delegation recently visited Walton’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Chandra, Gazipur. The visit provided an opportunity to observe the company’s production infrastructure, product range, research activities and technological capabilities across several electrical, electronic and high-tech product categories.

The delegation was led by Major General Hasan Uz Zaman, Engineer-in-Chief of MES. Other members included Brigadier General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Sayem, Director, Works, and other senior MES officials.

S. M. Mahbubul Alam, managing director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, welcomed the delegation alongside other senior company officials.

During the visit, the delegation toured Walton’s display centre, production plants and research and innovation facilities. They observed manufacturing processes for a range of products, including lifts, air conditioners, refrigerators, solar panels, batteries, cables and compressors.

Major General Hasan Uz Zaman said the delegation was impressed by Walton’s large-scale manufacturing operations, diverse product portfolio and technological capabilities. He particularly praised the company’s research and development activities and encouraged it to further expand its capabilities and continue advancing technological innovation.

Emphasising the importance of locally manufactured products, he said MES, like the government, attached importance to prioritising products made in Bangladesh. Where required products were available locally, domestically manufactured options would be considered first. Walton was among the companies that naturally came under consideration, he added.

He also praised Walton’s contribution to industrialisation, employment generation, local manufacturing, technological development and the national economy.

Brigadier General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Sayem, Director, Works at MES, described Walton’s manufacturing capacity as remarkable. He said the development of large-scale industrial facilities in Bangladesh was a source of pride, particularly as products made in the country were being exported to international markets.

He noted that Walton was expanding its focus beyond the domestic market by designing and manufacturing products with international demand and opportunities in mind. He also commended the company’s approach to environmental sustainability, saying its activities reflected consideration for future generations as well as present needs.

Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Managing Director S. M. Mahbubul Alam said the company placed significant importance on building long-term cooperation with key national institutions based on technological and manufacturing capabilities.

He described the MES delegation’s visit as significant and said its observations and recommendations would encourage Walton to advance local technology-product manufacturing, research and development.

According to Mahbubul Alam, Walton aims to reduce import dependence, save foreign currency, expand exports and contribute more to the national economy and employment by manufacturing internationally competitive technology products in Bangladesh.

He added that the company was continuing to strengthen its research, innovation and technological capabilities while maintaining product quality and after-sales service.

Tanvir Anjum, business coordinator to the managing director and senior executive director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, coordinated and hosted the programme. He thanked the MES delegation for the visit and expressed hope that the existing relationship between Walton and MES would develop into broader and more effective cooperation.

Other officials present included Walton Additional Managing Director Mohammad Yusuf Ali; Walton AC Chief Business Officer Md. Tanvir Rahman; Head of Corporate Sales Ahmad Tanvir; Senior Executive Director Protic Kumar Modak; Walton Lift Chief Business Officer Md. Mahmudur Rahman; and Head of Administration Tanvir Ahmad, along with other company officials.
