Jashore University Tops Science and Technology

Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has retained its position as Bangladesh’s leading science and technology university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027. The university is placed in the global 1001–1200 band and ranks 10th among all universities in Bangladesh, according to the published ranking. THE said the 2027 edition includes 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories.

The World University Rankings 2027 were published on the Times Higher Education website on Wednesday (September 30).

JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Iyarul Kabir said the university was proud and pleased to achieve the position among Bangladesh’s science and technology universities.

He said the achievement does not belong to any individual or department. It is the result of the collective efforts of the entire JUST community, including teachers, students, officials and employees.

He said the university wants to improve its position further at both national and international levels. Achieving that goal will require sincere cooperation and collective efforts from everyone in the university community. He expressed hope that everyone would work together to move the university forward.

JUST Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan said the achievement is an important recognition of the university’s academic and research-based progress.

He said the result reflects continued excellence in research, innovation and academic activities by the university’s teachers and students.

He added that the university would continue working to expand its research activities, encourage new innovations and strengthen JUST’s position internationally.

JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruk Hasan also expressed satisfaction with the ranking. He said the university’s position among Bangladesh’s science and technology universities was a source of pride and reflected the collective efforts of teachers, students, officials and employees.

He said disciplined financial management, transparency and accountability had also played an important role in the university’s overall progress.

According to him, the achievement has increased the university’s responsibility. JUST will continue working to improve efficiency and transparency in education, research and financial management.

Times Higher Education evaluates universities using a set of performance indicators covering teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook. The 2027 ranking uses 17 calibrated indicators grouped into five broad areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.

In the THE World University Rankings 2026, JUST was also placed in the 1001–1200 global band. Its reported scores in that edition included 74.8 for research quality and 47.6 for international outlook.
