Silicon Valley, Monday (28 September 2026): Fostering strategic collaborations across artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor manufacturing ecosystems, technology transfer, and venture capital, the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles organized the "Bangladesh–Silicon Valley Technology Dialogue" yesterday, September 27, at Cedar Hall, Stanford University, California. The dialogue was themed "Technology, Talent and Partnerships for Bangladesh’s Future."
A high-powered special delegation dispatched by the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman engaged directly with Silicon Valley technology executives, AI researchers, venture capitalists, and non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) tech professionals. Consul General Kazi Muhammad Jabed Iqbal opened and conducted the proceedings, while Tareq Md Ariful Islam, Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States, delivered key remarks.
The official delegation featured Mr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Finance and Planning; Ms. Shama Obaed Islam, MP, State Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mr. Rehan Asif Asad, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology; and Mr. Bobby Hajjaj, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education.
Keynote presentations on Bangladesh-centric AI deployment were delivered by Dr. Syed Ishtiaque Ahmed (University of Toronto), Dr. Sharifa Sultana (UIUC), Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Islam (Uber), and Dr. Mostofa Patwary (NVIDIA). Dr. Mahbub Rashed of GlobalFoundries presented on semiconductor manufacturing and ecosystem scaling.
A high-level panel on talent, technology, and capital was moderated by Dr. Saif Islam, Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC Davis. Panelists included Adviser Rehan Asif Asad; Dr. Shatil Haque (Credo Semiconductor); Dr. Yusuf Haque (Co-Founder & CTO, Exo); Dr. Omar Ishrak (Former Intel Board Chair & former Medtronic CEO); Mohammed Enayetur Rahman (CEO, UlkaSemi); and Badrul Sarwar (Co-Founder & CTO, CloudAEye).
Adviser Rehan Asif Asad reiterated the government's commitment to creating an integrated innovation ecosystem connecting academia, startups, and enterprise industries. State Minister Shama Obaed Islam emphasized science and technology diplomacy as key foreign policy drivers to facilitate technology transfer and boost agricultural food security. State Minister Bobby Hajjaj stressed combining foundational literacy with AI-assisted classroom tools and practical teacher training across underserved communities. Concluding the dialogue, Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir affirmed that fiscal policies and investment planning will be aligned to support tech-driven economic infrastructure and high-skilled employment.
