A rear door of a moving metro train suddenly opened on Wednesday morning, prompting authorities to temporarily suspend train services on the Uttara-Motijheel route for 26 minutes as a safety precaution. Services resumed after the mechanical fault was repaired, and train operations are currently running normally.
The incident occurred on September 23, 2026, Wednesday morning. Inspector Md. Mohsin Sheikh of MRT Police (Operations) confirmed the information.
He said a metro train departing from Uttara North Station for Motijheel suddenly experienced the opening of one of its rear doors. As a safety measure, authorities immediately decided to suspend train operations.
According to Md. Mohsin Sheikh, services on the route were suspended at 7:37am. After the mechanical fault was repaired, metro services resumed at 8:03am.
As a result, train operations on the route were temporarily disrupted for 26 minutes. The MRT Police official said services are currently operating normally.
