E-Bail Bond Expands to 12 Districts

Accelerating digital legal tech, the Ministry of Law has expanded its smartphone-enabled E-Bail Bond system to streamline bail procedures from twelve complex steps into just two.
To alleviate the suffering and physical travel hassles of bailed individuals and their families, the government has launched the online E-Bail Bond system in 12 additional districts. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman inaugurated the expansion this morning on August 13, 2026 (Thursday) at a ceremony held in the ministry's conference room. With these 12 new districts, the digital legal service is now operational in 28 districts across Bangladesh.
The newly included districts are Tangail, Kishoreganj, Munshiganj, Cox's Bazar, Chandpur, Rangamati, Sirajganj, Bagerhat, Patuakhali, Habiganj, Thakurgaon, and Jamalpur.
Md. Asaduzzaman stated, “Under the conventional method, filing a bail bond required passing through 12 steps, whereas the E-Bail system accomplishes it in just two. Lawyers can now submit bail bonds directly via smartphones from anywhere, with instant OTP verification.”
The Law Minister highlighted that around 120,000 E-Bail bonds were submitted online in the initial 16 districts over recent months, demonstrating the system's effectiveness. This paperless, digital approach substantially reduces the need for repeated visits to prisons, magistrate courts, and district judge courts while enhancing transparency, accountability, and administrative speed.
Alongside E-Bail Bonds, the ministry is prioritizing mediation and legal aid to make the judicial system more citizen-friendly and reduce case backlogs. The Minister announced incentives and awards for districts achieving significant progress in resolving pending cases within the next year. Law and Justice Division Secretary Liaquat Ali Molla, Additional Secretary Md. Khadem Ul Kayes, Additional Secretary SM Ershadul Alam, and Director General of National Legal Aid Services Organization Monjurul Hossain were present at the event.
