Rail Ticket Black Market Bust: 2 Arrested with 963 SIMs, 14 Mobile Phones in Jamalpur RAB Raid

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-14) has arrested two members of a railway ticket black marketing syndicate in Jamalpur, recovering 14 mobile phones, 963 SIM cards, and several train tickets during a special operation.

The raid was conducted around 3:45 pm on Friday, 15 May, in the area adjacent to an old mosque in Dapunia village under Jamalpur Sadar upazila. The arrested individuals are Md. Minatur Rahman Minat (25) and Md. Shakib (24), both residents of the Sadar upazila.

According to RAB sources, acting on a tip-off, they conducted the operation and identified the activities of an organized group involved in ticket black marketing. The arrested individuals had reportedly been collecting railway tickets from counters for a long time and selling them at inflated prices.

During the operation, authorities recovered 14 mobile phones, 963 SIM cards, and 7 train tickets for different routes. The total value of the recovered tickets was Tk 5,880.

Company Commander Major Labid Ahmed of RAB-14 CPC-1, Jamalpur camp, said that a syndicate had long been exploiting passenger suffering, especially during Eid and other major holidays, to profit from ticket black marketing. He added that the group had been deceiving passengers by selling tickets at higher prices.

He further stated that RAB’s intelligence surveillance and special operations against ticket black marketing and passenger harassment will continue in the future.
