Facebook Status: Actress Nusraat Faria Released After Bail
Nusraat Faria, the actress arrested in connection with an attempted murder case filed at Dhaka’s Vatara Police Station, has been released from prison. She walked free from Kashimpur Central Women’s Jail at 3:28 PM on Tuesday, May 20, following a court order granting her bail earlier in the day.
Shortly after her release, Faria posted a status on her verified Facebook page, writing:
“Sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who stood by me. I couldn’t speak today due to physical illness. I will return to you all soon after recovery.”
The post quickly circulated across social media, drawing widespread support and well-wishes for her health and recovery.
In her post, the actress stated,
“I’ve experienced the most critical and vulnerable days of my life. I was mentally shattered. But I want to sincerely thank those who stood by me during this time.”
She went on to express gratitude to colleagues, members of the entertainment industry, and ordinary citizens:
“Everyone from my fellow professionals to the entire industry, even the general public who spoke out for me and stood up for justice — I will forever remember this support and love.”
She added,
“Without your support, I might not have been able to return this quickly. I especially want to thank the journalists; their support was immensely needed. I will always remember the love you’ve shown me.”
Faria was detained by immigration police at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on May 18, while preparing to travel to Thailand. She was later shown arrested in a case filed under the charge of attempted murder at Vatara Police Station.
According to the case documents, Enamul Haque (35) was shot on July 19 last year in the Vatara area during a people’s uprising led by students and citizens. On May 3, Enamul filed a complaint with the Dhaka CMM Court, naming 283 individuals. Among the accused were 17 actors and actresses, including Nusrat Faria. The court ordered police to treat the complaint as a formal FIR on the same day. Faria was arrested roughly two weeks later.
The actress was granted bail by the court on Tuesday, leading to her release from custody later in the afternoon.
