Xiaomi’s Silicon Surge: Mass Production of 'XRING 01' Chip Begins
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has commenced mass production of its in-house advanced mobile chip, the XRING 01, according to company founder and CEO Lei Jun. He announced the development on Tuesday via China’s social media platform Weibo, Reuters reports.
The chip will debut in the upcoming Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra tablet, which are scheduled for unveiling this Thursday.
Lei Jun also revealed that Xiaomi has already invested 13.5 billion yuan (approximately $1.87 billion) in developing the XRING 01 chip and plans to invest an additional 50 billion yuan over the next decade.
This move marks a significant step toward technological self-reliance for Xiaomi, especially in the competitive semiconductor sector.
