- Partha Sarathi Haldar apprehended from West Rajabazar by CID operatives
- Fraud involved falsifying database logs and altering signed corporate checks
Manipulating enterprise accounting software and forging corporate checks, Partha Sarathi Haldar, Assistant General Manager (Finance & Accounts) of Sanji Group of Companies, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for embezzling BDT 16,62,41,215. Operating on digital forensics and intelligence, CID teams apprehended him late Monday night (October 12, 2026) around 1:00 AM from West Rajabazar under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. The arrest was officially communicated via a CID press bulletin on Tuesday (October 13, 2026).
According to CID, the accused leveraged vulnerabilities in the company’s enterprise database workflows. Haldar collected funds from clients without depositing them into official corporate bank accounts, manually overriding software entries to show the transactions as credited. Furthermore, he regularly intercepted blank checks pre-signed by the management, altered the payee details, and diverted funds into his personal accounts. CID confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify other accomplices involved in the cyber-enabled financial fraud.
The case was originally filed by Sanji Group management on December 4, 2025, at Bhatara Police Station. Case documents indicate that Haldar and his associates systematically conspired to breach internal financial controls and manipulate software records. Previously on September 16, CID arrested two co-accused—Saiful Islam alias Joni (37) and Syed Arab Ali (52)—from the Shantinagar area in connection with the same scheme.
Financial analysis by CID revealed that Haldar directly diverted BDT 2,27,22,897 collected from clients into his personal BRAC Bank account. Investigators also uncovered fraudulent fund routing through two NRBC Bank accounts. Using identical software manipulation techniques, the suspect misappropriated BDT 65,07,950 from Panama CNG Conversion, a subsidiary of Sanji Group.
CID confirmed that Haldar individually embezzled BDT 9,53,25,839 through check forgery and accounting system manipulation. In total, the fraudulent ring siphoned off BDT 16,62,41,215 in cash collections and check alterations. During preliminary interrogation, Haldar confessed to exploiting system loopholes and executing the corporate embezzlement scheme.
