Driving frontier technology research and local hardware-software co-design, the government has announced comprehensive policy support for young technologists advancing AI, semiconductors, and robotics. Speaking as the chief guest at the final project presentation and closing ceremony of 'Nippon AI Dojo 2026' at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) auditorium on Wednesday (September 30), Political Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon emphasized the need for deep analytical research to build indigenous AI platforms and localized datasets tailored to national priorities.
Highlighting AI's transformative role across agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, and freelancing, he noted that local technical bottlenecks—such as power supply stability, GPU compute infrastructure, and rich Bangla dataset scarcity—must be factored into pragmatic tech roadmaps designed by domain experts.
Jointly organized by UAP, Japan's CHOWA GIKEN Corporation, and AI SAMURAI JAPAN, the event featured Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shin-ichi as a guest of honor, with UAP Board of Trustees member Qayum Reza Chowdhury presiding. UAP Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed also attended as a guest of honor.
Trainees from BRAC University, North South University, and UAP showcased real-world AI applications addressing complex technological challenges. A team from the University of Asia Pacific emerged victorious in the competition, culminating in certificate distributions and awards for outstanding engineering contributions. //DBTech/SHP/SME/BST//
