Four Nodes Enable Large Simulations
Gigabyte Brings AI Top ATOM to Bangladesh
- The system handles complex AI and scientific workloads locally
- Four nodes can simulate more than 30 million atoms
- Bangladesh variants can cost up to nearly Tk 1 million
Gigabyte has introduced its high-performance computing system AI TOP ATOM for running advanced AI workloads and large-scale scientific simulations locally. According to the company, each node delivers 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance and includes 128GB of unified memory. Four nodes can be connected through 200Gbps Ethernet to handle large AI models and memory-intensive scientific workloads.
AI TOP ATOM is not a conventional desktop computer. It is designed for running AI models, processing large datasets and handling complex calculations used in scientific research. Multiple units can be connected to increase overall computing capacity.
Gigabyte and NVIDIA jointly demonstrated the system’s capabilities through a scientific research use case. AI was first used to generate a potential research idea. The idea was then tested through scientific simulations using GROMACS software.
The demonstration focused on developing thermal interface materials, or TIMs, for advanced semiconductor packaging. Such research can use computer simulations to examine how atoms and molecules behave within materials.
Gigabyte said a typical single system may face memory limitations after simulating around 10 million atoms. In comparison, a four-node AI TOP ATOM cluster demonstrated the ability to simulate more than 30 million atoms.
The company said this capability can support large-scale computing for semiconductor research, materials science, AI research and other scientific applications. Local processing also allows users to maintain greater control over sensitive data used in research and computing tasks.
Gigabyte Country Manager Khaja Md Anas Khan said three AI TOP ATOM variants—9000, 9001 and 9002—are available in Bangladesh. Depending on the variant, the price can reach nearly Tk 1 million.
Khaja Md Anas Khan said AI TOP ATOM is not limited to AI development. He said the system can also be used for large-scale scientific research and simulations in the future.
