JUST College Welcomes 44 New Students

Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) School and College welcomed 44 students admitted to Class 11 for the 2026–27 academic year. The college section, which formally began operating last year, has entered its second year with the new intake. At the ceremony, the university’s pro-vice-chancellor urged students to pursue ambitious goals and grow into honest citizens guided by human values.

The reception was held at 11am on Tuesday, September 29, on the college campus. Teachers and students welcomed the newcomers with flowers and gifts. JUST Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan attended as chief guest. University Treasurer Professor Dr Mohammad Faruk Hasan was the special guest.

In his address, Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan said, “A dream is something that does not let you sleep. Students must dream big. If you stay focused on your goal, no obstacle can stand in your way.” Recalling family values and parents’ contributions, he said parents are their children’s greatest well-wishers. Every child has a responsibility to value their parents’ guidance and sacrifices and make them proud.

He urged guardians to avoid unnecessary competition and respect each child’s abilities, temperament and interests. Education, he said, must not be limited to earning a degree. Building a corruption-free and prosperous country requires citizens who combine education with honesty, ethics and humanitarian values.

In his remarks, special guest Professor Dr Mohammad Faruk Hasan stressed the importance of closer relationships among students, guardians and teachers. He said parents and teachers should help children overcome the hesitation that can develop as they grow older. Rather than relying only on discipline, they should draw children closer with care. Families and teachers need to create an environment where students can share problems openly.

He also urged adults to understand students’ perspectives, avoid unnecessary anger and give them room to develop their talents and ideas. “With a little care and opportunity, our children will shine on the world stage in the future,” he said. He advised the newcomers to maintain good relationships with their parents and teachers alongside their studies, and to discuss any problems with them. He encouraged students to develop their abilities and skills so that their names would be spoken with respect not only in Bangladesh but around the world.

The programme was chaired by JUST School and College Principal Dr Mohammad Saiful Islam. Other special guests who spoke included Jashore Sadar Assistant Upazila Education Officer Md Haider Ali and college governing body members Dr Md Johurul Islam and Dr Farhana Islam. Teachers and students of the college attended. A cultural programme featuring student performances followed the reception.
