Prayer and Milad Held by BAU Chhatra Dal on Khaleda Zia’s 82nd Birthday
A prayer and milad mahfil was held at the initiative of the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Chhatra Dal to mark the 82nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, “Mother of Democracy” and uncompromising national leader Begum Khaleda Zia.
The programme was organised on Saturday (August 15) afternoon at Haji Saleh Uddin Nurul Ulum Madrasa located on the BAU campus after the Asr prayer. Special prayers and supplications were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia.
The event was attended by BAU Chhatra Dal joint conveners including Agriculturist Shahin Alam, Mejbaul Haque Mizu, Md. Nurnabi Hossain, Agriculturist Shamim Reza, Daniel Ibn Ahmed, member Saklain Hossain Sakib, Sakib Ahmed, along with leaders and activists from various hall units.
Speakers at the programme recalled with deep respect the political life of Begum Khaleda Zia, her contribution to restoring democracy, and her long struggle for establishing the rights of the people of the country.
Agriculturist Shahin Alam said that the “Mother of Democracy” dedicated her entire life to restoring democracy in the country. She was devoted to people from all walks of life regardless of party affiliation. Due to her uncompromising leadership, people regained their rightful rights and freedom of expression. Her sacrifice and struggle remain an ideal for all.
Mejbaul Haque Mizu said that although the uncompromising national leader is no longer physically with us, her legacy of struggle, patriotism, and democratic values will continue to inspire us. He added that they would work to build a prosperous, democratic and discrimination-free Bangladesh inspired by the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
Md. Nurnabi Hossain said that Begum Khaleda Zia was one of the key leaders in the struggle for multi-party democracy, voting rights and democratic rights in Bangladesh. He added that her political struggle and sacrifice for democracy would be remembered with respect by the people.
Agriculturist Shamim Reza said that Begum Khaleda Zia was not only a political leader but also a symbol of hope for the masses. He added that her leadership, patriotism and commitment to people’s rights would remain exemplary for the new generation.
The programme concluded with special prayers seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of the national leader, along with prayers for her eternal peace in Jannatul Ferdous and for peace, prosperity and welfare of the country and its people.
