bKash Accelerates Bangla QR Ecosystem
- Exchange meetings across 97 locations
- Collateral-free digital loans for merchants
- Daily transactions exceed BDT 200c
Leveraging financial technology infrastructure, payment system automation, and digital transaction ecosystems, bKash has organized a series of exchange meetings with merchants to accelerate Bangladesh Bank’s universal 'Bangla QR' initiative.
Till 12 August, Wednesday, around 1,500 bKash merchants participated in these regional coordination sessions held across 97 locations countrywide.
Highlighting digital ledger technology and automated point-of-sale processing, the sessions emphasized that Bangla QR payments transfer directly to merchant accounts, eliminating cash-handling risks and improving accounting transparency. Furthermore, utilizing algorithmic transaction analysis and data-driven credit scoring, micro and small merchants are accessing instant, collateral-free digital working capital loans in partnership with BRAC Bank.
Addressing point-of-sale IoT integration, merchants were introduced to the 'Digital Payment Speaker' system, which provides real-time acoustic confirmation upon successful transaction processing, removing manual status verification.
On the consumer technology side, discussions highlighted embedded finance features such as the 'Pay Later' instant line of credit, integrated Visa card payment pathways, and extensive multi-bank Add Money connectivity. Backed by nationwide localized branding and awareness drives, bKash has deployed Bangla QR across over 800,000 merchant points, driving average daily transaction volumes beyond BDT 200 crore.
