Brother Killed in Chattogram Following Dispute Over Facebook Account
A man was killed after being allegedly stabbed by his elder brother in a dispute over a Facebook account in Balutila area of Ward No. 9 under Bagan Bazar Union of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram. The incident occurred between 10:30 am and 11:00 am on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Zainal, 35, was a resident of the locality. Police have detained the accused elder brother, Jafar, following the incident.
According to local residents and family sources, the two brothers had been involved in a longstanding dispute over the blocking of a Facebook account. An argument broke out between them on Saturday morning over the issue.
As the verbal altercation escalated, Jafar allegedly became enraged and attacked his younger brother with a sharp knife.
Zainal sustained critical injuries near his chest in the stabbing. Locals rushed him to a hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead.
After receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and detained the accused. Authorities subsequently began the process of sending the body to the morgue of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Bipul Chandra De, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhujpur Police Station, confirmed the incident.
He said the conflict originated from the blocking of a Facebook account, which led to a dispute between the two brothers. During the altercation, the elder brother allegedly stabbed Zainal, leaving him critically injured. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The OC added that the accused has been taken into custody and legal proceedings are underway.
The incident has sparked both grief and shock among local residents.
