NCP Leader Nasiruddin Patwary Attacked in Jhenaidah; Protests Erupt On Social Media

Allegations have emerged that Nasiruddin Patwary, Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), was attacked in Jhenaidah on Friday, May 22. The incident reportedly occurred after Jum'a prayers at the District Collector Jame Mosque.

In a Facebook post following the incident, Nasiruddin Patwary claimed that leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal attacked them in the presence of police immediately after they exited the mosque, located opposite the district commissioner’s residence, as part of a pre-announced program.

According to him, eggs and bricks were initially thrown, followed by a sudden attack using hockey sticks. He alleged that three individuals sustained head injuries while several others were injured during the assault. He also claimed that he himself was punched and beaten.

Nasiruddin Patwary further alleged that mobile phones, cameras, and wallets were snatched during the incident. He said they were currently staying at the police station and preparing to file a case. He also claimed that activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and Bangladesh Nationalist Party- BNP were preparing another attack in front of the police station.

In a separate Facebook post, NCP leader Sarjis Alam also alleged that activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal carried out a sudden attack on Nasiruddin Patwary after Jum'a prayers in Jhenaidah. He claimed that several people were left bloodied and admitted to hospital following the incident.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Cumilla-4, Hasnat Abdullah, stated in a Facebook post that BNP activists attacked NCP leaders including Nasiruddin Patwary and Tarek Reza in Jhenaidah.
