Syedpur Airport Expansion Eyes International Status
Afroza Khanom Rita has said that the government is considering developing Syedpur Airport into an international airport.
She made the remarks while speaking to journalists at Syedpur Airport on Wednesday morning, May 20.
The minister said the airports promised by the Prime Minister for different regions would be implemented gradually. It is not possible to implement all projects simultaneously.
She further said that airports with higher passenger services demand and greater public interest would be given priority.
Syedpur Airport is being considered with importance due to its position as the gateway to the northern region and its industrial and commercial potential. Regarding land acquisition for Syedpur Airport, the minister said the process would begin after Eid-ul-Adha.
At the time, the newly appointed Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, District BNP President Abdul Gafur Sarkar, General Secretary Shahin Akhtar Shahin, and local business leaders were present.
