BUET Professor Dr. Abdul Hasib Appointed First Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka Central University
Professor Dr. A S Md. Abdul Hasib of the Department of Nanomaterials and Ceramic Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka Central University.
The information was disclosed in a gazette notification signed by Md. Shah Alam Siraj, Assistant Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, on Sunday night, February 15.
According to the notification, “With the approval of the Honorable President and Chancellor, and in accordance with Section 11(1) of the Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026, Professor Dr. A S Md. Abdul Hasib has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka Central University.”
It further stated that his tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be four years from the date of joining. Prior to assuming office, he will be entitled to receive salary and allowances equivalent to his substantive position. He will also enjoy other benefits associated with the post in accordance with existing regulations.
In addition, as the Chief Executive Officer of the university, he will be required to remain present on the university campus on a full-time basis. The notification also mentioned that the President and Chancellor reserve the authority to cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary.
