The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has placed maximum emphasis on launching an online visa application process through its official website to prevent fraud by travel agencies and ensure technological transparency.

Under the new rule, which will come into effect from Sunday, July 5, applicants have been advised to use the digital platform directly instead of relying on third-party agencies.

The decision for this digital transition was made following allegations against some travel agencies involving fake applications, excessive service charges, and visa-related fraud.

According to the new regulation, if any applicant seeks assistance from an agency, that travel agency must have technical approval from the internationally recognised organisation IATA (International Air Transport Association).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 20, the embassy clearly stated that no specific agency has been appointed as an exclusive partner or digital submission partner. Authorities believe that submitting information directly through the online system will reduce the risk of fraud by 100 percent.

The notice also warned that legal action will be taken against anyone conducting illegal commercial visa activities by impersonating the Chinese Embassy. The embassy urged citizens to remain cautious about any digital irregularities or suspicious websites and requested them to contact the official email address of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka directly for any concerns.
