Krishi Bank Launches 40-Day Remittance Festival Ahead of Eid
State-owned Bangladesh Krishi Bank has launched a 40-day “Krishi Bank Remittance Festival” to encourage expatriates to send more money to their families in the country ahead of Eid. The remittance festival will continue until 30 March. As part of the festival, the bank has announced three prizes at each of its divisional offices, along with a total of 11 prizes to be distributed across all branches nationwide. Among these 11 prizes, the mega prize will be a motorcycle. Altogether, a total of 38 customers will receive prizes through a lottery draw.
Under the program, a total of 27 customers—three from each of the bank’s nine divisional offices in Dhaka, Chattogram, Barishal, Cumilla, Faridpur, Khulna, Kushtia, Mymensingh, and Sylhet—will receive Samsung smartphones as prizes.
In addition, another 11 customers will be rewarded from across all branches nationwide. Among them, one customer will receive a 150cc motorcycle along with a helmet as the mega prize. For the 27 divisional-level winners, the first, second, and third prizes will be Samsung-brand smartphones. Other prizes to be awarded from branches across the country include refrigerators, televisions, smartphones, and various other items.
Regarding the festival, Krishi Bank General Manager Mostafizur Rahman said the bank organizes remittance festivals with various gifts every year ahead of the two Eid festivals, which play a positive role in increasing remittance inflows and deposit collection. During Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, expatriate Bangladeshis usually send more money to their families. Since Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the second half of March, the flow of remittances is expected to increase during this period. The initiative aims to encourage customers to send remittances through legal channels and to add extra joy to Eid celebrations for the families of expatriates.
According to sources, customers of Krishi Bank will not need to send any specific amount of remittance to participate in the program. Customers will be eligible for the lottery if they receive remittances in spot cash directly through Krishi Bank or if remitted funds are deposited into their Krishi Bank accounts. Winners will be selected through a lottery draw, which will be held on 31 March or on another convenient date thereafter.
Bank sources said that in the first eight months of the current 2025–2026 fiscal year, Krishi Bank has achieved 171 percent of its remittance collection target. Among government-owned banks, Krishi Bank ranks first in remittance collection and stands second among all banks in the country. Although it ranked fourth among competing banks in the 2024–2025 fiscal year, Krishi Bank moved up to second place among competing banks in 2025 and has maintained that position since.
