The Election Commission (EC) has launched a new software titled Election Schedule Management Module (EMS) to make the process of election schedule announcement easier, faster, and more efficient. Field-level officials have also been instructed to input the necessary data into the system.

A letter in this regard was sent to field-level officials on Thursday, May 7.

According to the letter signed by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, the digital election calendar software has been developed to facilitate the timely announcement of election schedules for City Corporations, Municipalities, District Councils, Upazila Parishads, and Union Parishads.

The software will require regular updates of key data related to local government institutions, including the dates of the latest elections held, gazette publication, oath-taking, the first meeting, ward demarcation, voter list revisions, and litigation-related information.

The EC stated that Upazila and Thana Election Officers have been assigned responsibility for entering the required data into the system. Instructions have been issued to ensure that all information is mandatorily entered by May 15.

Officials of the Election Commission believe that the introduction of this digital module will enhance transparency and technology-driven efficiency in election management, particularly in data preservation, schedule preparation, and coordination activities.
