e-VAT Extension Eases Filing Amid System Upgrade Snags
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting online VAT returns (e-VAT) for the March 2026 tax period. Under the new decision, the final date for filing returns through the e-VAT system has been extended until 23 April 2026.
In a notification issued on Tuesday, 14 April, the NBR stated that the extension was granted in the public interest, considering the government holiday on Pahela Baishakh and the technical issues arising from the upgrade of the e-VAT system.
The notification further stated that the decision was made under the authority conferred by sub-section (1A) of Section 64 of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012.
