Chakra 2 Climbs Charts, Captures OTT Crown in a Week

The series ‘Chakra 2’, released on the OTT platform iScreen, has reportedly doubled its revenue within just one week. It is currently the most-subscribed and most-viewed series on the platform. Captivated by the series, audiences appear to be increasingly gravitating toward OTT content, much like one of the show’s central characters.

Inspired by the mysterious suicide of nine members of a family in Mymensingh in 2007, the series has sparked widespread discussion across social media since its release. One of its key characters, ‘Dr. Humayun’, has become the subject of numerous humorous images, memes, and cartoons—further boosting the show’s popularity. Actor Tousif Mahbub has come into renewed prominence through his portrayal of this character.

Preparations for the third season are now underway. The next installment had already been planned, and ‘Chakra 3’ was announced at the end of the series. As a result, Tousif has currently reduced his involvement in other নাটক (television dramas), aiming to focus on fewer but higher-quality projects.

The character of Dr. Humayun is considered one of the most challenging roles in Tousif’s career. Although seemingly ordinary on the surface, the character possesses multiple layers beneath. Through extensive preparation, research, and nuanced acting, he has brought the role to life. In particular, portraying a complex ‘evil’ personality without relying on dialogue proved to be a significant challenge for him.

On Pahela Baishakh, Tousif celebrated the day by eating panta-ilish at home before heading to the shooting set, where he continued the festivities with colleagues. He also shared a fond childhood memory associated with the Baishakh fair at Ramna Botomul. Explaining his earlier hesitation to join OTT platforms, he said that one should not take on projects without the right story. Although he had previously delivered popular works in television dramas such as ‘Khowabnama’, ‘First Love’, ‘Emon Dine Tare Bola Jay’, and ‘Bachelor Point’, he had been waiting for a story that matched his vision for OTT. That wait has finally ended with the ‘Chakra’ series.

Overwhelmed by the response to ‘Chakra 2’, which exceeded expectations, Tousif noted that despite the crowded lineup of Eid content, the series managed to stand out—marking a significant achievement in his career.
