New Bangladesh’s happiness, prosperity, peace wishes and the slogan “নববর্ষের ঐক্যতান, গণতন্ত্রের পুনরুত্থান” (Orchestra of New Year, Revival of Democracy) were highlighted as Jashore University of Science & Technology (JUST) celebrated the first day of Bengali New Year 1433 with various events.
The Bengali New Year celebration began at 9:30 am on Tuesday, 14 April, through a Baishakhi procession starting from the main gate of JUB. The procession moved from the university main gate, circled the main road of the campus, passed in front of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building, went through National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building, and concluded in front of the JUB Koroi Tala. The procession was led by the Treasurer of the university, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, and was joined by students, teachers, officers, and employees of JUB. Students and teachers of JUB School and College also participated in the procession.
After the procession, a children’s “Jemon Khushi Temon Sajjo” (dress-as-you-like) event was held at Koroi Tala. Later, the university family, along with the Treasurer of JUB, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, shared a traditional Bengali meal of panta and fish. At 3:30 pm, the “Entrepreneur Fair 1433” was inaugurated by the Treasurer of JUB, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun. The day-long program concluded at 5:30 pm with a cultural program.
In his chief guest remarks, Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun extended Bengali New Year greetings to all and said that the new year should be auspicious for everyone. He wished that all sorrows would be removed and life would be refreshed and blossomed anew.
The Convener of the Pohela Boishakh 1433 Celebration Committee and Director of the Student Guidance and Counseling Department, Dr. Md. Rafiul Hasan, also extended New Year greetings and said he expressed gratitude to all students, teachers, officers, and employees for making the event lively through their participation.
The program was attended by deans of various faculties, chairpersons of different departments, heads of offices, along with students, teachers, officers, and employees of the university.
