The authorities of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) have removed Dr. Engineer Md. Amzad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, from his administrative position, formed an investigation committee, and imposed a ban on his entry into the campus over allegations of data leakage by impersonating a university official.

The decision was announced through three separate notices signed by JUST Registrar Engineer Md. Ahsan Habib on Saturday (January 3).

According to the notices, Dr. Amzad Hossain allegedly leaked information by using the name, address, and mobile phone number of JUST Deputy Registrar Md. Tahidul Islam. Following the incident, the deputy registrar formally lodged a complaint with the university administration.

In another notice, the university stated that, in the interest of a fair investigation, Dr. Amzad Hossain has been directed to go on leave effective January 3. He has also been instructed not to enter or remain on the university campus during this period.

It is worth noting that on December 30 last year, Dr. Amzad Hossain—an Associate Professor of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department and then Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology—was reportedly caught at the Jashore Central Post Office while attempting to send information using another person’s identity. Following the incident, the affected deputy registrar filed a General Diary (GD) against him with Jashore Kotwali Police Station.
