STEM Scholarships Spotlight: RUET Hosts UK Study Seminar for Students
A seminar on UK scholarships aimed at expanding international higher education opportunities was held at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) to raise awareness among students about studying abroad.
Titled “Session on Scholarship Opportunities in the UK, with Special Emphasis on Women in STEM Fields,” the seminar took place on Monday, 13 April, at the university’s CSE seminar room. The session provided detailed discussions on various scholarship opportunities in the United Kingdom, application procedures, funding facilities, and preparation strategies.
The keynote speaker was Sarker Asif Iqbal, Higher Education Program Coordinator at British Council Bangladesh. He said that proper guidance is crucial for securing scholarships in the UK. Applying through authorized agents reduces the risk of fraud, and the British Council provides necessary guidelines and various forms of support to students.
The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Imdadul Haque, Director of IQAC and a faculty member of the Mechanical Engineering Department. He stated that such initiatives help students gain practical insights into top universities in the UK. In particular, scholarships and programs available for female students in STEM fields can play a significant role in shaping their careers.
The session was moderated by Assistant Director of Student Welfare, Md. Abu Ismail Siddiqui Saif.
Organizers said the seminar served as an effective guidance platform for students interested in pursuing higher education in the United Kingdom.
