Technical Skills Over Degrees Essential for Global Competitiveness: A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan

Emphasizing the importance of producing skilled citizens, Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan said that in addition to earning degrees, technological knowledge and technical skills are essential to survive in the global market. He praised the innovative and research-oriented environment of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST).

On Monday, 13 April, the Education Minister made these remarks at a programme titled “Ceremony on Submission of Intent to Apply for BAC Accreditation,” held at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building, organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). A total of 14 departments of JUST are jointly applying for recognition from the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC). The event was organized on this occasion.

In his chief guest speech, Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan said that JUST is progressing as one of the best science and technology universities in the country, and the government will continue to provide maximum support to maintain this trajectory in the future. He noted that JUST’s initiative to move forward with the goal of achieving recognition from the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) is commendable. He expressed hope that in the future, every department of JUST will achieve BAC accreditation and the university will continue to advance competitively not only within the country but also globally.

Addressing the students, Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan further said that they must develop the university into a resourceful institution. Through knowledge acquisition and research, they must repay their responsibility to the nation. He said that responsibility is the foundation of patriotism and hoped that students would develop themselves as patriots.

Chief Guest Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani also spoke at the event. In his speech, he said that with the combination of young teachers and students, JUST will stand tall not only in the country but also in the world. He called for rebuilding the university and the nation with everyone’s collective effort.

The programme was presided over by JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid. Other speakers included MP Md. Ataur Rahman of Narail-2 constituency, Chairman of Jashore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Professor Dr. Mosammat Asma Begum, and Director of IQAC Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam. Additionally, IQAC Additional Director Dr. K M Anis Ul Haque presented data on how JUST is progressing towards BAC accreditation, while IQAC Additional Director Dr. Farhana Yasmin presented a presentation on the university’s progress. Deans of various faculties, chairmen of different departments, office heads, teachers, and students were present at the event. The programme was conducted by Treasurer of JUST Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun.
