Minister Urges Integrated Planning to Accelerate LGED Development

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for greater emphasis on integrated planning to accelerate the development activities of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

He made the call on Saturday, 28 March, at a review meeting on various development activities under LGED, held at the Kamrul Islam Siddique Auditorium of the LGED building in Agargaon, the capital. State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam was present as a special guest.

At the beginning of the meeting, chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan, a documentary was presented highlighting the brief history of LGED and its ongoing development activities.

In his speech as the chief guest, the minister said that to contribute to the overall development of the country, emphasis must be placed on enhancing patriotism and improving the quality of work. He stressed the adoption and implementation of village-based and integrated development plans to improve the living standards of rural communities.

Special guest State Minister Mir Shahe Alam stated that to make development activities more effective, it is necessary to limit the number of projects while expanding their coverage areas. He called for undertaking large-scale integrated projects instead of scattered small ones to ensure optimal use of resources and achieve desired outcomes more efficiently.

In his remarks as chair, Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan emphasized the need to improve the quality of work in LGED projects, prevent wastage of public funds, and ensure timely implementation.

Among others present at the meeting were LGED Chief Engineer Md. Belal Hossain, Director General of the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Inspection Wing Md. Mahmudul Hasan, NDC, and Additional Secretary of the Development Wing Dr. Abu Nasar Mohammad Abdullah.
