The five-day City IT Mega Fair 2025, held at BCS Computer City in Agargaon, Dhaka, concluded on Saturday night, December 13, at around 8:00 pm. The exhibition showcased the latest editions of computers, laptops, and a wide range of newly released, authorised technology products. Due to the weekly holiday, BCS Computer City will remain closed on Sunday, December 14.

As part of the fair’s activities, five visitors won raffle prizes, each receiving round-trip air tickets for a couple to Cox’s Bazar along with a two-night hotel stay. Additional raffle prizes included bicycles, rice cookers, blenders, and other household items. The names of the Tech Quiz winners were also announced during the event.

Although visitor turnout was relatively low on Friday, December 12, due to a five-hour suspension of Metro Rail services, sales surged on the final day of the fair. Vendors from several leading Computer City outlets reported higher-than-usual sales of laptops, computers, and other tech products on Saturday.

Traders noted that laptop sales outpaced desktop computer sales, attributing the trend primarily to the recent increase in RAM and SSD prices.

However, smaller retailers expressed disappointment, stating that they failed to achieve expected sales volumes and that customer turnout fell short of their expectations during the fair.

Meanwhile, a Gigabyte-sponsored art competition was held on Friday as part of the event. The programme was attended by Akhtar Hossain Khan, President of the BCS Computer City Management Committee, Md. Zayed Ali Bhuiyan, Convener of the fair, and other committee members. At the prize-giving ceremony, Md. Tanjim Chowdhury, Product Manager at Gigabyte and Assistant General Manager of Smart Technologies, was also present.

The competition jury included Ahsan Habib, cartoonist, writer, and founding editor of Unmad, and Md. Harun Or Rashid, Associate Professor of the Department of Graphic Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, among others.

The art competition was organised across four categories, including an open category, for children aged 4 to 15 years. Samriddhi Roy, Arpan Das, Md. Montasibul Islam, and Asif Hasan secured first place in their respective categories.
