State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid has acknowledged the presence of errors and irregularities in the railway’s online ticketing system.

While inspecting Chattogram Railway Station on Friday morning, March 20, the State Minister admitted the issue to journalists, stating that the weaknesses in the online ticketing system have come to the government’s attention and that multiple meetings have already been held at the ministry regarding the matter. Due to software limitations, tickets are being sold out quickly in some cases, followed by allegations of resale at higher prices.

He noted that certain groups are taking advantage of this mismanagement.

He further stated that directives have been issued to upgrade the software to make the ticketing system more transparent and efficient. Necessary measures are being taken to eliminate any chance for black marketing or irregularities and to ensure that passengers can purchase tickets easily and reliably.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s directive, State Minister Habibur Rahman mentioned that Wi-Fi services have been introduced on an experimental basis in three trains for now. If successful, the service will be gradually expanded to other trains. At the same time, the government is working to make train services more modern, accessible, and passenger-friendly, ensuring safe travel for the general public at lower costs.
