A photocard carrying the statement “No fascist police will be allowed to remain in the country,” attributed to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir, has recently been circulating on social media. Several media outlets have also published reports using similar headlines.

At the same time, another photocard stating, “Constables, SIs, OCs, SPs, DIGs—no police associated with fascism will be allowed to remain in the country. We are sufficient to ensure the country’s security,” has also come to the attention of the police.

However, the Police Headquarters has confirmed in a message sent to the media on Thursday (March 20) night that the IGP did not make any such statement.

The message said that it has recently been observed that a fake photocard containing a fabricated quote attributed to IGP Ali Hossain Fakir—“Constables, SIs, OCs, SPs, DIGs—no fascist police will be allowed to remain in the country. We are sufficient to ensure the country’s security”—is being artificially created and circulated on social media. The IGP has not made any such remarks anywhere.

The statement also urged everyone not to be misled by fake photocards or misleading information.
