Citizen Services Centralized: Government Launches Unified Digital Platform

With the support of the Office of the Chief Adviser and the ICT Division, Bangladesh has launched the “Nagarik Seba” (Citizen Services) platform, aimed at delivering all government services from a single digital point of access to every citizen. This initiative, backed by special emphasis from the Chief Adviser, is expected to significantly improve the quality of life and accessibility of government services for citizens across both urban and rural areas.

A workshop on the initiative was held on June 22 at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Computer Council in ICT Tower, Agargaon. The event was attended by senior officials from various ministries and departments. The chief guest was Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser and In-charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.

Speaking at the event, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said, “The Citizen Services platform has been developed to deliver all government services in a simple and hassle-free manner through a single address. Those who cannot access services via digital devices like smartphones or computers will be able to receive them easily through Citizen Service entrepreneurs. We are also working on strengthening digital infrastructure, enhancing the digital skills of government officials, and improving cybersecurity capabilities.”

Presiding over the workshop, ICT Division Secretary Shish Hayder Chowdhury remarked, “Previously, government services were scattered and required semi-digital and paper-based processes. With the Citizen Services platform, we are addressing these challenges. Citizens will be able to access multiple services through a single login, saving time, money, and effort.”

Additional Secretary of the ICT Division, Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, emphasized inter-ministerial cooperation: “By June 26, all ministries and departments must submit their lists of citizen-centric services, assign focal points, and issue clear implementation directives. Active collaboration with vendors and technical teams is essential for successful service integration.” He added that since the initiative is being driven personally by the Chief Adviser, it must be implemented with the highest priority.

During a Q&A session with participants, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb confirmed that the Chief Adviser has instructed all ministries and departments to bring at least two of their services online and integrate them with the Citizen Services platform.

According to an official notice from the ICT Division, the platform currently hosts 81 government services. The service is being piloted at two centers in Gulshan and Uttara under Dhaka City Corporation, with a third center to be launched soon in Nilkhet. Upon successful completion of the pilot phase, the initiative will be expanded gradually to every upazila and union ward across all 64 districts.

The workshop was attended by ICT officials and senior representatives from various government ministries and departments, who expressed optimism about the platform’s potential to transform public service delivery.
