Apple Unveils AirPods Max 2 with Advanced Audio Features
Apple has finally unveiled its highly anticipated headphones, AirPods Max 2. In a surprise announcement on Monday (16 March), the company said the new model will enter the market as the successor to its 2020 predecessor. TechCrunch reported.
The AirPods Max 2 is priced at $549 and features Apple’s audio-specific H2 chip, which makes its Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) 1.5 times more effective than the previous version. The Adaptive Audio feature will automatically adjust ANC and Transparency mode based on the user’s surroundings to enhance the listening experience.
Apple claims that the Transparency mode has become more natural. With new digital signal processing algorithms optimized for the H2 chip and an upgraded AirPods Max microphone array, users will remain more aware of their surroundings.
The Live Translation feature will help users overcome language barriers during face-to-face conversations. Meanwhile, the Voice Isolation feature uses advanced computational audio to reduce background noise and prioritize the user’s voice during calls.
Additionally, a new high-dynamic-range amplifier ensures clearer audio output. Apple also claims improvements in Spatial Audio, with better instrument positioning, enhanced bass response, and more natural mid and high frequencies.
The headphones also include a camera remote feature, allowing users to trigger the camera shutter of an iPhone or iPad remotely. By pressing the Digital Crown, users can take photos or start and stop video recordings.
The Loud Sound Reduction feature protects users from high environmental noise while preserving the sound signature of the content being played. Microphone quality has also been improved, ensuring high-quality audio capture for interviewers, podcasters, and singers.
Using a USB-C cable connection, the AirPods Max 2 supports 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio. The headphones will be available in Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Purple, and Blue color options.
Pre-orders will begin on 25 March, with the product expected to hit the market in early April.
