Google Expands Gemini Chatbot in Chrome to Canada, India and New Zealand
Google is rolling out its Chrome browser–integrated chatbot Gemini to users in Canada, India and New Zealand. The company also announced that Gemini will now be able to communicate in 50 additional languages, according to Engadget.
Earlier this year, Google introduced several Gemini-powered features in Google Chrome, including Nano Banana image generation. Initially, these features were made available to users in the United States. The same features are now being extended to users in Canada, India and New Zealand. Among the newly supported languages are French, Gujarati, Hindi and Spanish.
To use Gemini in Chrome, users need to click the sparkle icon located at the top-right corner of the browser. This opens a sidebar interface, allowing users to interact with the Gemini chatbot without switching tabs. The sidebar will also provide access to Google’s image generator. In addition, Gemini will integrate with several Google applications, including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Calendar, YouTube and other Google apps.
Google said that Gemini in Chrome will be launched in more countries and languages throughout the remainder of 2026. However, users who prefer not to use Gemini can simply right-click on the sparkle icon and unpin it, after which it will no longer appear in the browser interface.
