The written examination for the 6th batch of the Freelancing Training Programme organized by the Department of Youth Development will be held simultaneously across all 64 districts of the country. The examination, scheduled to begin at 9:00 am on Friday, March 6, will see the participation of 60,000 candidates.

A total of 110,743 applicants applied for 4,800 seats in this batch of the freelancing training programme. From among them, selected applicants are taking part in the written examination. The test, being conducted simultaneously in various district towns across the country, will be used to select qualified candidates who will later receive freelancing training under the Department of Youth Development.

The programme, implemented under the initiative of the Department of Youth Development, has gradually expanded and has now reached all districts of the country. Initially, the project was implemented in 16 districts, followed by 48 districts. Currently, the programme is being carried out simultaneously in 64 districts, combining the earlier 16 and 48 districts, making it the largest arrangement in the history of this initiative. At the field level, the training activities are being managed by E-Learning and Earning Limited.

Officials concerned said that from among the nearly 60,000 candidates, a final 4,800 trainees will be selected. On average, 12 to 13 candidates are competing for each seat. According to stakeholders, this statistic reflects the growing interest among the country’s youth in acquiring digital skills and achieving self-employment through freelancing.

Candidates who pass the written examination will participate in the oral examination on March 7. Based on the final results, the 6th batch of freelancing training will begin in each district with 75 trainees per district.

Meanwhile, nearly 4,000 candidates will take part in the written examination at the head office of E-Learning and Earning Limited located in Kalyanpur, Dhaka. The participation of such a large number of examinees in a single day is considered a major event in this sector.

Under this project of the Department of Youth Development, a total of 10,800 students have so far completed training. Among them, about 62 percent, or 6,732 trainees, have been able to earn income by working on various national and international freelancing marketplaces. Their total earnings amount to approximately 1,353,636 US dollars, which is equivalent to about Tk 22,701,4416 in Bangladeshi currency.

Earlier, during the phase implemented in 16 districts, a total of 6,400 individuals received training. Among them, 4,517 trainees were able to engage in income-generating activities, representing a success rate of more than 70 percent. During that phase, total earnings reached approximately 1,581,000 US dollars, equivalent to about Tk 19 crore 76 lakh in Bangladeshi currency.

Sector stakeholders believe that through such continuous initiatives and successes, the country’s youth will increasingly integrate into the global freelancing market, and income from this sector is expected to grow significantly in the future.
