South Korea’s electronics giant Samsung is set to integrate the new “Perplexity” AI into its upcoming Galaxy S26 series, allowing users to use Perplexity alongside the existing virtual assistant Bixby. The report comes from Engadget.

Samsung stated that the new AI assistant will activate when users say “Hey Plex.” It will work in coordination with Samsung apps such as Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar. Some third-party apps will also support it, although Samsung has not yet disclosed which ones.

On-Jun Choi, head of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business and R&D Office, said the Galaxy AI expansion provides users with more options to complete tasks efficiently. He added, “Galaxy AI acts like an orchestrator, bringing together different types of AI to create a natural and integrated experience.”

Last year, Samsung had partnered with Perplexity to integrate its AI search engine into Samsung TVs. However, Perplexity recently faced criticism over copyright infringement and content scraping allegations. In September, Merriam-Webster and Encyclopædia Britannica filed lawsuits against the company.

Samsung’s “Galaxy Unpacked” event will be held in a few days, where detailed information on this AI integration and the updated Bixby is expected to be unveiled.
