Samsung Set to Debut AI-Driven XR Glasses
Following Meta Platforms and Google, South Korean tech giant Samsung is now making strong preparations to enter the market with its own smart glasses. According to a recent report by Android Headlines, several images and details of the upcoming wearable device have been leaked. The report states that the smart glasses have been codenamed ‘Jinju.’
According to the leaked information, Samsung’s first smart glasses will be comparable to Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. The key features are expected to include:
- Camera: A 12-megapixel camera
- Processor: Snapdragon AR1 chipset
- Audio: Directional speakers with bone-conduction technology
- AI Integration: Deep integration of the Google Gemini chatbot
- Software: It will run on the Android XR platform
Price and Availability
The ‘Jinju’ glasses are expected to be priced between $380 and $500 (approximately BDT 44,000 to BDT 58,000). A teaser of the device may be showcased at Samsung’s ‘Unpacked’ event in July, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Watch 9. However, commercial release is likely by the end of this year.
Future Plans: Display-Equipped Glasses on the Horizon
The report further notes that the ‘Jinju’ model will not feature a visual display. However, Samsung is planning a more advanced version, codenamed ‘Haean,’ expected to launch in 2027. This future model will include a micro-LED display and is anticipated to be priced between $600 and $900.
It is worth noting that due to rising global prices of RAM and storage, along with economic uncertainties, the final retail price may increase slightly at the time of official launch.
