The special air ambulance sent by the Amir of Qatar was scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Thursday night, but due to a ‘technical problem’ its arrival was delayed. As a result, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital, will no longer be flown to London Thursday night as initially planned.

Meanwhile, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, is scheduled to depart for Dhaka on Thursday at 6:00 pm London time (12:00 am Bangladesh time) on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight. She is expected to arrive in Dhaka at 9:30 am Friday. Consequently, the final departure for London with Khaleda Zia may be pushed to later on Friday afternoon.

BNP Media Cell member Atikur Rahman Rumman confirmed the information on Thursday night, 4 December.

Separately, BNP Chairperson’s Press Wing member Shairul Kabir Khan also stated that the departure of the air ambulance from Qatar had been delayed due to technical issues.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir added that the air ambulance was supposed to reach Dhaka by midnight and the plan was to fly Khaleda Zia to the United Kingdom early Friday morning. However, the technical complications have forced a change in schedule. All necessary preparations have already been completed, and a specialized medical team comprising local and foreign experts will accompany her.
