AI Apps for Urban Order: DMP Launches Nine Digital Systems for Smart Policing
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched nine new apps and software systems to modernize civic services and internal administrative operations, including AI-based traffic management.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir inaugurated the apps and software as the chief guest at a press conference held at the DMP headquarters on Bailey Road in the capital on Wednesday, 29 April, at noon. DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar and other senior officials were present at the launching program.
The newly launched systems include: AI-Based Road Transport Act Violation Detection System, Hotel Boarder Information System, Hello DMP App, DMP Online Training System, DMP Residence Allocation System, DMP Leave Management System, DMP Traffic Duty Distribution Software, DMP Employee Performance Evaluation Software, and DMP Traffic News Archive.
At the press conference, it was stated that traffic sergeants currently verify documents of drivers violating traffic laws on the roads and take legal actions such as filing cases and imposing fines—processes that are time-consuming and often create complex situations. Additionally, due to manpower limitations, effective monitoring through conventional methods has become difficult.
To address this, AI-based technology will be deployed. Under a joint initiative of the two city corporations of Dhaka and the DMP, traffic signals have been installed at 25 intersections across the city, with plans for further expansion. Advanced cameras have been set up at these نقاط to monitor traffic conditions. Through the AI-Based Road Transport Act Violation Detection System, violations will be identified and necessary actions will be taken.
Regarding the Hotel Boarder Information System, it was informed that data on both domestic and foreign guests staying in residential hotels across the capital will be collected and stored online. This will facilitate monitoring the movement of suspected individuals or criminals and assist in gathering information related to national security. At the same time, it will enhance accountability among hotel authority.
Through the ‘Hello DMP’ app, citizens will be able to directly access various DMP services and lodge complaints regarding services. The app will also include information and links to different online police services. It was stated that complaints will be addressed by coordinating with the relevant units.
Additionally, the introduction of the DMP Online Training System, Residence Allocation System, Leave Management System, Traffic Duty Distribution Software, and Employee Performance Evaluation Software is expected to enhance professionalism among force members, ensure administrative transparency, and improve efficiency.
The DMP Traffic News Archive will also provide access to various traffic-related information and news.
