The Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (TSS) Limited is set to establish a modern repair and refurbishment centre for the country’s critical network power components in the telecommunications sector. To that end, the state-owned telecom manufacturer has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with private network infrastructure company Edotco Bangladesh Limited.

In the presence of Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, the agreement was signed on Thursday, 4 December, at the conference room of the Posts and Telecommunications Division. TSS Managing Director Dr. Manowar Hossain Molla and Edotco Bangladesh Managing Director Sunil Isaac signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Speaking as the chief guest, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said that the MoU between TSS and Edotco will play an important role in strengthening the country's telecommunications infrastructure. He added that the establishment of this repair and refurbishment centre will enhance network reliability, reduce import dependence, and create opportunities for developing skilled human resources.

He further stated that if the initiative succeeds, it will pave the way for local production of battery cells in the future, contributing to foreign currency savings and the creation of a new technology-driven industry.

In his presidential remarks, Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan said the MoU will reinforce the government’s commitment to modernising the telecom support ecosystem. He noted that the industrial capacity of TSS combined with Edotco’s international technical expertise will create a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership that will positively impact not only the telecommunications sector but also future technology-oriented industries.

Senior officials from the Posts and Telecommunications Division, representatives of TSS, and officials from Edotco attended the signing ceremony.
