BIDA Boosts Bureaucratic Bandwidth with New Online Services

The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) has integrated five new services from the Department of Registration into its Online One-Stop Service (OSS) system. The services were inaugurated during a ceremony at the Investment Bhaban’s conference hall in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The newly added services include: (1) Land Purchase Deed, (2) Lease Deed, (3) Contract Registration Deed, (4) Memorandum of Understanding Deed, and (5) Power of Attorney Deed and certified copy provision. Currently, the BIDA OSS platform hosts 137 services across 46 agencies, including BIDA’s own 24 services. With the addition of these five services, the total number of agencies rises to 47 and the total services to 142.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman (with State Minister rank) of BIDA. Special guests included A.S.M. Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land, and Md. Liaquat Ali Molla, Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Addressing the gathering, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun said, “From December 16 onwards, the Department of Registration’s services will no longer be provided manually. Progress of these services will be reviewed within the next three months.” He further noted, “There is a plan to consolidate all Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) services, including BIDA and BEZA, on a single platform. It is expected that by the end of this year, all IPA services will be accessible through a single-window platform.” He also engaged with journalists during the event.
Senior Secretary A.S.M. Saleh Ahmed stated, “All services of the Ministry of Land have been fully digitized. We are working to complete land mutations within a week for commercial purposes. We aim to provide investors with maximum speed in the national interest.”
Law Ministry Secretary Md. Liaquat Ali Molla added, “We must be sincere in service delivery and ensure that the public is informed about service fees so that they are not harassed and no third party can exploit the system.”
The welcome address was delivered by Shah Mohammad Mahbub, Executive Member (Additional Secretary) of BIDA. Other speakers included Kazi Abdul Hannan, Inspector General of the Department of Registration, and Jibonkrishna Saha Roy, Director General of BIDA. The event was conducted by Abu Muhammad Nurul Hayat Tutul, Deputy Director of BIDA.
The ceremony was attended by BIDA’s executive members, directors, officials from the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, district registrars, sub-registrars, and representatives from various print and electronic media outlets.
