For the first time on Bangladeshi roads, global new energy vehicle (NEV) leader BYD tested the capabilities of its Sealion 6 in a cross-country endurance drive. The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), boasting a potential range of 1,100 kilometers, embarked on a journey from Dhaka to Banglabandha Zero Point and is scheduled to return to Dhaka on September 9, covering a total distance of 1,866.4 kilometers.

The five-day drive will include stops in Cox’s Bazar, Teknaf, and Chattogram. The challenge aims to demonstrate the Sealion6’s electric and hybrid performance, highlighting how the vehicle maintains peak efficiency over long distances.

Leading the expedition are BYD Bangladesh officials Imtiaz Nowsher, Shahnuma Sharmin, and Rezwan Rahman. They are joined by automotive personalities including Shahriar Parvez of The SP-TV and Mustavi Irtija Bashar of Cars and Conversations.

The journey commenced on September 4, from Dhaka to Banglabandha Zero Point, covering 464.7 kilometers, before returning via Tetulia to Dhaka. The route will then extend 396 kilometers to Cox’s Bazar, followed by Teknaf and Chattogram, before concluding back in Dhaka.

Shahnuma Sharmin, BYD Bangladesh Strategy and Digital Lead, said, “This campaign is not just an ordinary drive; rather, it is an accurate reflection of Sealion 6’s extraordinary endurance and capability. Our objective is to set a new benchmark for PHEVs in this region, showing that the vehicle can perform beyond expectations on the country’s roads. We believe this challenge will enhance Sealion6’s reputation for capability, sustainability, and long-distance performance while promoting environmental protection.”
