DUCSU Disquiet: Chhatra Dal Panel Protests Poisonous Propaganda Online

The Abid-Hamim-Mayed panel, backed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Students’ Party (Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal), has alleged that a vested quarter is spreading “venomous hatred” online ahead of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections.
On August 6, Saturday afternoon, after submitting a complaint to the Returning Officer at Nabab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, Assistant General Secretary (AGS) candidate Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed told journalists, “We have seen that after failing to win over students and falling short in field politics, many are resorting to online platforms to spread misinformation against various organizations and individuals. Such activities will disrupt the democratic electoral environment on Dhaka University campus. We have complained to the university administration several times. Even though the Election Commission tried, they could not control them. We want the DUCSU elections to be held in a proper environment without any problems. Today, we came to follow up on the progress of that matter.”
Present at the briefing were Dhaka University Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Sarker Sahos, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, and AGS candidate Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed.
Nahiduzzaman Shipon added, “From fake IDs under the name of Dhaka University, cyber-attacks are being launched on respected political figures. This is damaging the election atmosphere. These groups must be deactivated until the election, because they are spreading venomous hatred.”
