Advisers Assure Aid to Injured BUET Student

Two Special Assistants to the Chief Adviser, Sheikh Moinuddin and Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, visited BUET 2020 batch student Syed Shadid Nasif, who is undergoing treatment at the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, on the evening of Friday, August 29. At the time of their visit, Shadid’s father, mother, sister, and several other relatives were present in the cabin.
The delegation spoke with family members and inquired about his treatment. On behalf of the Chief Adviser and the head of the committee formed to address engineers’ employment grievances, Chief Adviser M. Faozul Kabir Khan, the delegation conveyed condolences to the family. They also extended heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the support staff, nurses, and medical team for their dedicated service.
According to Muhammad Jasim Uddin, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, “In the presence of the delegation, Shadid’s mother became quite emotional and sought assurance that no such forceful actions against her son and other students would take place in the future.” The delegation expressed regret over the incident and noted, “For the first time in the history of Bangladesh, the DMP chief himself has expressed regret from such a position regarding an incident like this.”
The attending physician reported, “Shadid’s operation has been successfully completed. His condition is stable. However, the fifth day is extremely crucial. After the fifth day, depending on the condition of the stitches, the medical team will decide whether he needs to be shifted to the ICU.”
Later, the delegation spoke with several classmates of Shadid from BUET’s 2020 batch, as well as leaders of the ongoing Engineers’ Rights Movement who were present. Shadid’s peers drew the delegation’s attention to the necessity of a “reasonable and peaceful resolution” to the demands of graduate engineers.
Shadid’s father is a teacher at a college in Rangpur, and his sister is a student at Dhaka University. In the presence of other family members who traveled from Rangpur, Sheikh Moinuddin and Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb assured full medical support for Shadid, including advanced treatment if necessary.
