SUST Sets Sights on Becoming a Technological Hub
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet is on a mission to transform its campus into a technological hub, according to Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A M Sarwaruddin Chowdhury.
Speaking at a workshop titled “Utilization of Advanced Geographical Tools and Technologies” held on Monday, August 4, at the university’s mini auditorium, the Vice-Chancellor stated, “We are working to turn our 320-acre campus into a technological hub. All necessary initiatives toward this goal are already underway.”
Highlighting the relevance of the event, he said, “Through today’s workshop, students will learn how to use modern geographic tools and technologies, which will enhance their practical knowledge and skills.”
During the event, Professor Chowdhury also officially unveiled the university’s own digital map and launched a drone to be used for environmental monitoring.
Organized by the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, the workshop was chaired by Department Head Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam. Special guest remarks were delivered by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Sajedul Karim.
Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain also spoke at the event, while Research Officer Tania Sultana conducted the technical session as the resource person.
