Following the temporary suspension of Rupali Bank’s operations for data center work, another five-day service disruption has been announced — this time by private lender National Credit and Commerce (NCC) Bank. The bank will pause all banking operations to facilitate an upgrade of its Core Banking System (CBS).

According to a circular issued by the Department of Off-site Supervision of Bangladesh Bank on Thursday, July 3, the service suspension will begin on the night of Tuesday, July 8, and continue until the morning of Sunday, July 13.

Bangladesh Bank stated in the circular, “In order to ensure the smooth execution of the existing Core Banking System (CBS) upgradation activities, all banking operations — including branch and sub-branch services, debit card usage, ATMs, BSCPS, BFTN, RTGS, NPSB, internet banking, SWIFT, and others — will remain temporarily suspended during this period.”

The central bank approved NCC Bank’s request for temporary closure under the authority granted by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.

Earlier, Bangladesh Bank also announced a five-day suspension of all banking services of state-owned Rupali Bank from July 4 to July 8, due to data center maintenance.
