Bangladeshi global electronics brand Walton has officially entered the Sri Lankan market in partnership with local business entity Monic Trading (Pvt.) Ltd. The distributor announced that Walton products will be available across more than a thousand sales outlets throughout the island nation.
The grand launch ceremony was held on Saturday evening, May 10, at the Cinnamon Life Hotel in Colombo. The event marked the formal debut of Walton in Sri Lanka, with SM Mahbubul Alam, Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, attending as the chief guest.
Among the special guests were Dr. Wasala Maduwantha Ariyapala, Managing Director of Monic Trading; Md. Jannatul Habib, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka; former Sri Lankan national cricket team captain Thisara Perera; and Nishat Tasnim Suchi, CEO of Walton Micro-Tech Corporation.
Over 400 Sri Lankan distributors also participated in the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, SM Mahbubul Alam said, “Through sponsorships of international cricket events, Walton has become a familiar name in Sri Lanka. We are delighted to partner with a reputed organization like Monic Trading as we begin our journey in the Sri Lankan market.”
He highlighted Walton’s ongoing investment in product research, innovation, and technological advancement aimed at maintaining a competitive edge in the global market. “We have established product-specific Research and Innovation (R&I) centers at our factory and extended the same in China and South Korea,” he said. “In response to the needs and climate conditions of developed markets, we are constantly improving the design, technology, features, and quality of Walton products. As a result, Walton has successfully developed South Asia’s most energy-efficient residential air conditioners and the world’s first voice-controlled ACs.”
He added that Walton’s other product lines, including refrigerators, ACs, and televisions, are now integrated with intelligent inverter technology, IoT, AI, and other cutting-edge smart features developed in-house.
Highlighting the company’s global footprint, Alam noted, “Walton brand businesses are currently operating in over 50 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The demand for Walton products is increasing steadily in Asian countries. I strongly believe Walton will quickly win over Sri Lankan consumers and establish a strong market presence here, just as it has elsewhere.”
Dr. Wasala Maduwantha Ariyapala, Managing Director of Monic Trading, stated, “Walton stands out for its product quality, innovative and modern technology, energy efficiency, durability, and competitive pricing. These products will soon be available at over a thousand outlets across Sri Lanka and are sure to win the hearts of local consumers.”
Md. Jannatul Habib, Deputy Head of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy in Sri Lanka, remarked, “It is truly exciting to witness the expansion of Bangladeshi tech giant Walton in the Sri Lankan market. This move will not only boost export revenues for Bangladesh but also enhance the country’s positive image in the global arena.”
Walton Micro-Tech Corporation CEO Nishat Tasnim Suchi commented, “We are working with a vision to transform Walton into one of the world’s top global electronics brands. Today’s official debut in Sri Lanka marks another significant step forward on that journey. I am confident Walton will become the market leader in Sri Lanka, just as it has won the trust of the majority of consumers in Bangladesh.”
